How to automate machine wakeup daily?

Set APM (Advanced Power Management) to go into Standby and then create a scheduled task to run at the time your want the machine to wake up and configure it to wake the machine to run the task.

The task could be as simple as opening word pad.

In Standby, the system state is saved to memory and uses only enough electricity to maintain the memory which is next to none.

To set the task to wake up the machine, after you create the task, right click select properties and then go to the settings tab. At the bottom is a check box for "Wake the computer to run this task.
