How to Make Dell Wireless Card (BCM 43xx) WiFi Card Work in Ubuntu
The most common reason is simply because Ubuntu did not enable the restricted driver. Here is how to enable it.
First, you need to make sure the b43-fwcutter package is installed.
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
Next, navigate to System -> Administration -> Hardware Drivers
You should see your Broadcom 4306 device listed. Check the box to enable it if it is not checked
Reboot Ubuntu and your WiFi should work
