Configuring a wireless Mac to get an IP address automatically is useful when:
- Connecting to Hot Spots in Airport,
- A Restaurant with Free Wireless Hot Spots
- Connecting to friends Wireless network
To adjust advanced TCP/IP settings:
- Choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Network.
- When the Network screen appears, look for Show and make sure AirPort is selected
- Make sure Show Airport Status in menu bar is ticked
- Click TCP/IP tab and look for Configure IPv4 and make sure Using DHCP is selected
- Click Apply Now and you’re now done configuring the wireless Mac to obtain an IP address automatically.
